A tribute is left for Espanyol's skipper Daniel Jarque, who died on Saturday
Espanyol captain Daniel Jarque has died after he suffered a heart attack following a training session, the club have confirmed in a statement.
The 26-year-old midfielder had been training in Coverciano, Italy, where the squad are on a pre-season camp.
Club doctors and Italian paramedics tried to revive Jarque without success.
His death comes two years after Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta, 22, died of heart failure after collapsing during a Spanish league game.
Jarque joined Espanyol at the age of 12, making his debut in 2002, and the Spaniard was handed the club captaincy this summer.
Jarque was a product of Espanyol's youth academy
"Tragedy struck Espanyol and the family of Dani Jarque this evening. The player died from a cardiac arrest," said a club statement.
"The doctor carried out CPR on the player and used a defibrillator, which showed that the arrest was non responsive.
"RCD Espanyol, broken with pain, wish to put themselves at the absolute disposition of the family of our captain Dani Jarque, to whom go our warmest thoughts."
Espanyol, who had been due to play Bologna on Sunday, have suspended their pre-season tour of Italy and will fly back to Barcelona.
"We are returning to Barcelona on Sunday but we can't come back with the coffin because they have to do an autopsy to confirm the cause of death," added club director German de la Cruz.
"The players are destroyed. One minute he was there with them, and the next he's gone. It's terrible."

The president of city neighbours Barcelona, Joan Laporta, offered his club's condolences.
"We are filled with extreme dismay at this tragic event which we deeply regret," he told the Barcelona club website.
"We are all in mourning. I want to send, on behalf of FC Barcelona, our deepest sympathies to RCD Espanyol for the painful loss of their captain Dani Jarque, and to his family."
As news of Jarque's death spread, tributes continued to pour in, with Real Madrid captain Raul also speaking of his shock.
"That such a young man, a great professional and sportsman, has suffered this has left us very upset," he said.
Other players who have died of heart failure include Cameroon midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe and Motherwell midfielder Phil O'Donnell.

El cuerpo de la edecán del equipo Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente de Tijuana, Adriana Ruiz Muñiz, de 30 años, fue encontrado este miércoles por la Procuraduría General de Justicia de Baja California. El cadáver – decapitado y con huellas de tortura- estabasemienterrado en un terreno de la colonia Altiplano, en Tijuana, Baja California.
Los restos de la joven fueron localizados luego de que la policía del municipio detuviera a Alfredo Martínez Martínez y a José Carlos Meza Zepeda, a quienes se les encontró una pistola Glock calibre .40 y un celular que contenía un video que mostraba a una mujer asesinada.
De acuerdo con otra fuente de la fiscalía estatal a la edecán “le arrancaron las uñas de los pies y le cortaron un dedo de cada pie”.
El segundo de los mencionados, quien se identificó como propietario del celular con el video, confesó en su primera declaración que participó en el homicidio “por encargo” y tomó el video para confirmar que lo había hecho.
En entrevista con una televisora local, Rommel Moreno Manjarrez, Procurador de Justicia del estado, dijo que se presume que el homicidio de Adriana Ruiz Muñiz está relacionado con el crimen organizado, y se piensa que el móvil pudo haber sido por venganza.

Adriana Alejandra Ruiz Muñiz nació en la calle tercera de la zona Centro de Tijuana el 25 de Julio de 1979.
Desde pequeña soñaba con ser modelo. Al paso del tiempo su naturaleza le fue favoreciendo y poco a poco se convirtió en una bellísima jovencita.
A la edad de 15 años, Adriana ya era contratada para fotografía a lo que le ayudó haber crecido entre personas cultas y creativas, pues entre los mismos amigos iban paralelamente surgiendo modistas, fotógrafos, videoastas, etcétera, los mismos que en sus principios pedían a Adriana como modelo y ejemplo para sus diseños.
Con el paso del tiempo, tras realizar cursos de modelaje, comenzó de manera profesional a trabajar en pasarela, modelo de maquillaje y a participar en concursos de belleza, siempre con la idea de continuar una carrera internacional como modelo de pasarela y retrato.
A sus 22 años participó en el certamen Nuestra Belleza 2001, y aunque no fue seleccionada, en los medios de comunicación la catalogaron como “la reina sin corona”.
Fue así que inició una carrera que veía muy prometedora, apareciendo en varios comerciales, folletos publicitarios, etcétera.
Dos años después conocería el amor de pareja y un año más tarde el amor de madre. Lo anterios provocó en ella la necesidad de crecimiento, fortaleciendo su idea de proveer y cooperar tanto con su pequeña familia como con su madre, quien hasta el día de hoy cuida de su esposo enfermo.
Ya con unos cuantos años de experiencia como edecán, Adriana se dio cuenta de que trabajando como tal le proveía ingresos seguros, los cuales compartía con su familia después de la separación de su esposo. Un detalle muy importante por mencionar, su carrera primordial siempre ha sido como “modelo profesional”.
Dentro de los planes a corto plazo de Adriana estaba comenzar con un ahorro para abrir su propio negocio, una cafetería gourmet.
Mientras trabajaba en evento tras evento, como toda buena madre multidisciplinaria, a su vez era contratada para modelaje e imagen. Y al mismo tiempo balanceaba su vida entre el cuidado de su hijo, su madre, su padre y una carrera físicamente desgastante.
Adriana Ruiz Muñiz, a tan sólo 30 años de edad, fue privada de su libertad para luego terminar con su vida, de una manera incomprensible, ya que era una mujer intachable, honesta y trabajadora.
Tal vez su aspecto, las especulaciones y testimonios por personas ajenas y la combinación de estos sucesos devastadores, provocaron la etiqueta errónea de su persona. En efecto y de manera innegable, Adriana Ruiz era una mujer muy bella, camaleónica en su vestir y su espíritu libre le permitía trabajar en un área de las relaciones públicas que exigen vender una imagen sensual.
Lejos de ello, en su vida cotidiana, era una mujer, madre de familia y exitosa proveedora de hogar. Buena amiga, honesta y sincera, y como muchos seres humanos, de carácter fuerte, no por ello, mereció lo sucedido.

Nora Talens fue enterrada ayer en Villanueva de Castellón (Valencia). Tenía 24 años. Perdió la vida cerca de las siete de la mañana del domingo. La supuesta obsesión de Julia Ribes, de 19 años, por su novio provocó una discusión entre ambas que acabó en tragedia. A la salida de la discoteca Barraca, en la playa de Les Palmeres, en Sueca, le clavó una navaja en el cuello, que le seccionó la carótida y le causó la muerte. También resultó herido el novio de la víctima, que la acompañaba.
Julia Ribes, a la que la policía local de Sueca, que había acudido a comprobar el horario de cierre, salvó de ser linchada en las puertas de la sala de fiestas por los amigos de la fallecida momentos después del crimen, declaró ayer ante la titular del Juzgado de Instrucción número uno de Sueca. Negó cualquier relación sentimental con Álex, la pareja de la víctima, y ofreció escasos detalles. Todo lo ocurrido lo atribuyó a un arrebato y dijo no recordar el momento en que se acercó a su coche a recoger la navaja con la que mató a Nora, vecina de su mismo pueblo.

Recibió al menos dos navajazos en un brazo. Ayer fue intervenido en el hospital donde permanece ingresado. Nora cayó muerta a pocos metros.

Secret life of motivation man: Mystery swirls around death of Jeffrey Locker
Just last month, a beaming Jeffrey Locker - devoted dad, beloved husband and successful entrepreneur - welcomed guests to his daughter's Long Island bat mitzvah.
"I'd never met a more devoted family," recalled longtime friend Steve D'Annunzio, one of many delighted guests. "He was a huge family man."
Barely a month after his 13- year-old's coming of age, Locker was discovered far from the family home - strangled and stabbed in his late-model car in an East Harlem housing project.
It was a gruesome death, incongruous with his American-as-apple-pie life: wife and kids, successful career, nice house in the 'burbs.
The slaying Thursday came with sordid speculation of a double life and dark secrets. A local teen said Locker bought a box of condoms at a nearby deli around 3 a.m.
Another resident said Locker's 2007 Dodge Magnum was regularly seen in East Harlem. Police trying to determine whether the revered motivational speaker was a regular customer of a Wagner Houses hooker.
Police sources said the 52- year-old victim withdrew $200 cash from an ATM machine an hour before his purported visit to the Wagner Deli.
Investigators found evidence that Locker made a series of calls Wednesday night to a particular apartment in the housing project.
Whatever happened in his life, there was no disputing how Locker died: A cord was wrapped tightly around his neck and the car's headrest.
Police suspect he was attacked by two killers - one in the backseat, another up front. One of them stabbed him, piercing his heart, lungs and liver and slicing his aorta.
A man and woman were later spotted using Locker's ATM card to make seven $200 withdrawals, starting about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, police sources said.
It was all a far cry from the hopeful promise delivered on Locker's Web site:
"Helping business people create more Peace, Joy and Fulfillment in all areas of their lives."
The circumstances and seedy conjecture didn't shake the faith of Locker's family and friends, who remain convinced he was an innocent victim.
"Jeff was an extraordinarily spiritual man," said Richard Pope, a Long Island businessman and family friend. "I've known him 3-1/2, 4 years.
"I've never seen him raise his voice. I've never seen him get angry."
Locker's wife, Lois, spoke to reporters outside the family's spacious two-story home in Valley Stream, L.I. The home features a brick walkway and a well-kept yard. A Lexus was parked in the driveway.
"I wish you could talk to the hundreds and hundreds of people my husband has affected positively," Lois Locker said. "Talk to them instead of reporting these innuendoes."

They say what's done in the dark, comes out in the light and it's true. This man lived a double life and it cost him his life along with bringing grief, tragedy and embarrassment to his family and friends.He didn't deserve to be murdered either. I hope they catch his murderers and are prosecuted to the fullest extent. I wonder if the motivational speaker taught his students "To thy self be true".
It amazes me to read all these post regarding this case. Almost all posters are worry about their own agendas rather than the severity of this case. All I hear is Republicans vs.Democrats and people pointing the finger of blame on the victim no less. This is a crime of violence in our own back yard, we should be outraged that this guy was murdered. Most of the people who heaped venom upon the cold, dead body of Steve McNair on the DN forum were of this type. A few even hinted that McNair deserved his fate because he cheated on his wife. You should have read THOSE posts. I don’t believe I saw a missive from you in defense of the slain quarterback. When those who claim the morality high ground are exposed, they deserve the denunciations coming their way. I am sorry this man was murdered. But when you closet your freakiness and live on the edge, you are likely to attract people with little regard for your dignity or your life. I feel sorry for Locker’s wife, family and friends. They are going to live with this horror and the awful knowledge their loved one died amid sordid circumstances.

Queensgirl. When was the last time You were in Valley Stream. Plenty of blacks living there. Go to the Valley Stream state park and see who the majority of people are who are there. Why would a white man want to be in East Harlem at 3AM. This isn't the 1950's when You could ride the subways at 3AM and feel safe. Then East Harlem was mostly Italian. Now no matter where You live You are not safe. Think of the parents of the 17 children who were killed. Look at the ones who committed the crime. If they voted I'm sure they didn't vote republican.

Esta mujer no identificada fue detenida por la policía para ser investigada por lo sucedido.
Caminaban de la mano por medio San José, Jeimy le acariciaba el rostro a Gabriela, eran un puro amor, una hecha para la otra, pero una mirada de reojo hacia otra mujer ocasionó que Gabi, enloquecida por los celos, sacara un cuchillo para cortar pan y se lo hundiera en el cachete izquierdo que tantas veces besó.
La agresión amorosa se dio ayer en la tarde en la avenida 6 calle 4 de la capital.
Con el corazón partido por lo hecho, Gabi se montó en un taxi y huyó.
“La amo, es el amor de mi vida no la quiero perder”, gritaba a todo pulmón mientras escapaba, pero minutos después fue detenida. Mientras que su amada, Jeimy, incrédula por lo sucedido se agarraba su mejilla que salpicaba sangre.
“Es la tercera vez que me corta, es un amor salvaje el de nosotras, pero al fin y al cabo la amo. No entiendo por qué me hace eso, un día de estos me va a agarrar con cólera y la voy a matar”.
Paramédicos de la Cruz Roja atendieron a la mujer, quien presentaba una profunda herida en su cara por lo que fue trasladada hasta el hospital San Juan de Dios donde le lavaron y le saturaron la herida.
Al lugar llegó la policía, que arrestó a una mujer no identificada y la trasladó hasta la Fiscalía para ser interrogada por lo sucedido. Ningún oficial se explica cómo, si hay amor, se dan estas peligrosas peleas entre parejas.
El parque lleva abierto pocos años, ya que se consideraba demasiado salvaje. Ninguno de los otros 20 turistas que viajaban junto a la víctima ha sido herido.
Una turista española ha fallecido durante un safari por el parque natural de Luangwa Norte en Zambia tras ser atacada por un elefante, según ha informado una portavoz del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación.
El accidente tuvo lugar el martes por la tarde en las proximidades de Mpika, en el norte del país, una localidad desde la que se accede al parque. Según la portavoz, la turista española, que participaba en el safari dentro de un grupo de turistas de unas 20 personas, ha sido la única víctima del ataque del paquidermo.
El Ministerio de Exteriores no ha podido precisar en qué circunstancias se produjo el accidente, en esa localidad situada a unos 600 kilómetros al norte de la capital del país, Lusaka.
La familia de la víctima -cuya identidad, edad y lugar de residencia no ha facilitado Exteriores- está al corriente de lo sucedido. El caso lo está coordinando la Embajada española en Zimbabue, ya que España no tiene representación residente en Zambia, aunque sí un cónsul honorario.
El parque, situado en el valle del río Luangwa, lleva abierto al turismo desde hace pocos años, ya que se consideraba demasiado salvaje y era una reserva dedicada al estudio de la fauna gestionada por la Sociedad Zoológica de Frankfurt.
Además de elefantes, en el parque viven otras especies como leones, leopardos, rinocerontes negros, búfalos, hipopótamos, mandriles, cebras y cocodrilos, entre otras.
El parque ofrece la posibilidad de realizar safaris a pie, nocturnos y en todo terreno por sus sabanas y bosques. El Ministerio de Exteriores no ha podido precisar en qué circunstancias se produjo el accidente.

La mujer fallecida, según ha podido saber 20 minutos, es una joven malagueña llamada Laura, de 24 años, que participaba en un safari en un parque nacional de Zambia.
Todo parece indicar que fue atacada por un elefante, aunque no se conocen más detalles sobre las circunstancias del accidente, según las fuentes. Los hechos ocurrieron este martes cerca de la localidad de Mpika, una de las entradas al parque, adonde fue trasladada la mujer, que murió este miércoles.
La familia ya ha sido informada
Las fuentes consultadas por 20 minutos señalan que la española fallecida trabajaba en la localidad malagueña de Torremolinos, en una empresa del sector textil y de la moda. La empresa ha decidido cerrar este miércoles y mañana jueves tras conocer el suceso.
Por su parte, el Ministerio de Exteriores ha confirmado que la familia de la joven ya ha sido informada del accidente. La turista española participaba en un safari junto a otros turistas. Exteriores ha informado de que ella es la única víctima mortal del accidente.
En el viaje, según las fuentes consultadas, participaban otros compañeros españoles de la empresa. El caso lo está coordinando la embajada española en Zimbabue, ya que España no tiene representación residente en Zambia.

Voló a la muerte por un acantilado de 80 metros. No logró tomar una curva y el cuadraciclo que alquiló se convirtió en su nave al más allá en Playa Flamingo, Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.
Tan solo tenía 12 años y estaba de vacaciones en el país, junto con un grupo de ocho estadounidenses más.
El tour consistía en bordear una zona boscosa y empinada, cercana a la playa, para apreciar el paisaje azul marino del Pacífico.
Pero su escasa edad y la falta de pericia al volante de un enorme y pesado cuadraciclo hicieron que la niña Brooky Laurence Scaline acelerara más de la cuenta, al tratar de seguir al grupo, encabezado por dos guías ticos.
El vuelo al cielo acabó en la playa. La menor cayó estrepitosamente, aniquilándola de golpe, frente al mar.
Fracturas en todo el cuerpo y una terrible lesión que le desfiguró la cara acabaron con la niña, quien tenía pocos días de estar en el país. Citer Cortés y Juan Carlos Solano, oficiales de la Policía Turística, custodiaron el cuerpo de la menor varias horas, a la espera de la llegada de agentes judiciales que realizaran el levantamiento del cuerpo.
Ahora se coordina con la Embajada de Estados Unidos para que los restos de la pequeña vuelvan a su país y le den cristiana sepultura.
